Kingdom Come: Deliverance II — Gameplay, Length, Hardcore and PC Specs
What you do as Henry, how optional Hardcore changes navigation, player-reported time estimates and Steam's published PC requirements.
Quick answer
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is a story-driven open-world action RPG set in 15th-century Europe, following Henry of Skalitz. Its published activities include combat, stealth and exploration. Optional Hardcore adds navigation restrictions and permanent negative perks. GOG's HowLongToBeat panel estimates 55.5 hours for the main story; that is player-reported, not a fixed runtime. Steam lists 16 GB RAM and a 100 GB SSD as part of its minimum PC tier.
You follow Henry of Skalitz through a medieval open world. The stores describe a story-driven action RPG rather than a fixed sequence of arena levels: GOG's publisher descriptions cover towns and forests, combat on foot or horseback, stealth, and sword, blunt-weapon and ranged approaches. They also describe a world that remembers Henry's actions.
For a prospective player, those are useful distinctions: are you looking for a story and places to explore, or mainly combat encounters? Consider the combination rather than choosing only from the medieval setting. These are published features, not a claim that we have tested the combat or judged its feel.
How does optional Hardcore change the game?
Deep Silver describes Hardcore as an optional mode with specific constraints. Your position is no longer automatically marked on the map, the compass loses its cardinal directions, fast travel is unavailable, and you choose at least three permanent negative perks at the beginning.
That changes the decision from simply wanting tougher fights to accepting less navigation assistance and additional character drawbacks. If losing fast travel or the map-position marker is not what you want, do not choose Hardcore merely because its name sounds like the definitive way to play. These published rules are more useful than an unsupported universal difficulty score.
How long is it?
On October 22, 2026, GOG's HowLongToBeat panel displayed 55.5 hours for Main, 101 hours for Main + Sides and 147 hours for Completionist. These are player-reported estimates grouped by play style, not a promised runtime or our completion test.
Use the category that resembles your plans: following the central story is a different commitment from seeking side content or completion. The retrieved panel did not display a sample size, so treat the numbers as an indication of scale rather than a deadline.
What PC requirements does Steam publish?
Both tiers specify a 64-bit Windows system and an SSD. Compare each part of your PC rather than treating RAM alone as a pass/fail test. These are Steam's published requirements, not measured frame-rate or resolution targets.

Game choice first, edition choice second
First decide whether the described game activities, time commitment and PC requirements fit what you are looking for. If you need evidence for a particular frame-rate target on your hardware, look for a matching benchmark before paying; this requirements table cannot provide that guarantee.
Then compare what you already own with the base game, Expansion Pass and Royal Edition contents in the separate edition guide below. An extra-content purchase is not a substitute for the base game, and a larger package is unnecessary if you already own all the content you want.
